According to Mr. Nagaraj, the tickets were acquired through a wholesale transaction with SJ Lucky Centre, a lottery wholesale agency in Panamaram. Mr. Manjunath saidthey are yet to discover the identity of the lucky buyer. The winning announcement has drawn a crowd to their shop, prompting the brothers to celebrate the occasion by distributing sweets to all the visitors.
This year, the department sold a record 71,43,008 tickets for its Thiruvonam bumper. 80 lakh tickets were printed this year.

In 2023, the ₹ 25 crore first prize of the Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery went to a ticket held by four joint winners from Tirupur in Tamil Nadu. The Lotteries department had printed 80 lakh tickets this year. The unsold tickets will be destroyed after a verification process.
