The Uttar Pradesh Government Toolkit generally refers to the "ODOP (One District One Product) Training and Toolkit Distribution Scheme". It is a state government initiative designed to empower local artisans, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs by providing them with free modern equipment, technical training, and financial stipends
What the Toolkit Includes
- Modern Equipment: Artisans are provided with advanced toolkits and machinery worth up to ₹20,000 to replace labor-intensive traditional tools, thereby boosting productivity and product quality
- Skill Development Training: Beneficiaries receive free, non-residential technical and entrepreneurship training ranging from 3 to 10 days, depending on their specific craft.
- Financial Stipend: Trainees are typically provided a daily stipend (e.g., ₹200 per day) during the training period to cover their daily expenses
Objective & Targeted Sectors
- ODOP Program: The toolkit is a core part of the state's broader ODOP initiative, which aims to preserve and promote indigenous, district-specific crafts (e.g., Chikankari in Lucknow, Metal Crafts in Moradabad, Brassware in Mirzapur).
- Matikala & Vishwakarma Schemes: Similar toolkit distributions operate under specialized boards, like the UP Maatikala (Pottery) Board and Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, to modernize traditional livelihoods.
Eligibility
- Must be a native of Uttar Pradesh. Must be at least 18 years of age.
- No formal educational qualifications are required.
- The applicant (or their family members) must not have received a toolkit benefit from another state or central government scheme in the past 2 years.
